AKWA - Fabric Description

Garment Dyed Fabric:
Everyone has a favorite shirt. It's not the brand new one, it's the one that's worn and comfortable. It fits you perfectly and it's not gonna shrink because you have already washed it a million times. What if there was a way to achieve that feel with a brand new shirt. The closest you'll come is Garment Dyed. These super-soft combed cotton garments go through a rigorous dyeing and washing process. The result is a relaxed, comfortable garment with almost no shrinkage and a very soft hand. It's your new favorite shirt. Throw it in the washer and dryer repeatedly without worry.

Stretch Jersey:
When you purchase a garment made from our stretch jersey, you are making a statement. You are saying "I value comfort and quality". Well, you've come to the right place. Our 94% combed ringspun cotton and 6% spandex is a silky soft knit jersey that will retain its shape and provide freedom of movement. We added a little extra stretch at our own expense, we launder the fabric to reduce shrinkage and increase softness. Machine wash and dry, simple.

Chamois Fleece:
Once upon a time, the term Fleece was only used to describe the stuff we sheared off of sheep. But many times that original fleece was itchy to the skin and quite expensive to produce. In modern times, cotton has become the most popular ingredient in fleece. It tends to be more comfortable, breathable, easier to work with, and less $$. With our Luxury Chamois Fleece we have taken it to the next level. 80% super-soft combed cotton and 20% polyester fleece is gently brushed to raise the nap and give the fabric an unmatched sued-like softness. Sueded fibers increase warmth without bulk. Wrap yourself in sumptuous chamois fleece when the temperatures start to drop. Oh, and unlike the original fleece, you can simply throw our chamois fleece in the wash at home.

Microfiber:
Back in the old days of "windbreakers" you had to make a tough choice: Stay dry and suffocate inside a raincoat or get wet. With synthetic fabrics you always had to make trade offs and sacrifice comfort for performance. Until the discovery of Microfiber. This ultra soft luxury fabric changed everything. Microfiber is tightly woven from extremely fine filaments, it is naturally water repellent and wind resistant. Amazingly, it is also breathable and moisture wicking so that you stay dry and comfortable. We take the extra step of sanding the fabric to obtain a suede-like finish for a luxurious, soft feel. And it does it all while maintaining it's figure: Microfiber is one of the lightest weight, most comfortable and durable fabrics available at any price range. Brains and beauty, this fabric has it all.

Microfleece:
Every couple of years you need to upgrade your computer because of new technology. If youˇre very geeky then you might update it more often than that. Well, we're super geeky about high-tech fabrics. We are always on the lookout for the latest and greatest. Our collection of Micro Fleece proves this point. Micro Fleece, made from microfiber, is brushed to compact the fabric and to build air pockets for insulation. Micro Fleece is wind-resistant, anti-pilling, quick wicking, water repellent, lightweight, easy care, retains shape, and has a luxurious drape. Microfleece provides great warmth without having to be heavy weight. A fantastic go-between fabric that is cool enough to keep you from sweating, yet warm enough alone to take the chill out of the evening air. Generally, microfibers are wrinkle resistant, but if pressing is needed at home or by drycleaners, care should be taken to use lower temperatures.

Bonded Fleece:
Great relationships are often made between 2 very different but complimentary people. Bonded fleece is a union of this sort, combining the absolute best of natural and high-tech fabrics. You get all the benefits of a Micro Fleece outer with the comfort of soft t-shirt material on the inside. This union of fabrics also allows us to have stylish color contrasting details. Silk:
According to a Chinese legend, silk was discovered about 2700 B. C. in the garden of Emperor Huang-Ti. The Emperor ordered his wife, Hsi-Ling-Shi, to find out what was damaging his mulberry trees. Hsi-Ling-Shi found white caterpillars eating the mulberry leaves and spinning shiny cocoons. Fast forward nearly 5,000 years, and not that much has changed in the production of silk. Those precious white caterpillars are fed a strict diet of chopped Mulberry leaves. It takes 8,000 caterpillars consuming approximately 350 pounds of Mulberry leaves to supply enough silk for 10 shirts.

No one likes stereo types, but there is always a thread of truth or at least myth in them. Linen has gotten a bad wrap for being wrinkle prone and difficult to care for. Yet, people are still drawn to Linen and it is generally considered a luxury fabric. Our Linen and Cotton blend is an easy care fabric with all the benefits of Linen. Beautiful texture gives the fabric depth and character. We take the extra step of laundering to enhance the soft hand feel and almost eliminate shrinkage. When we say machine washable we mean it. Taken straight from the dryer you will not have to use an iron at all. This classic hot weather fabric is sure to be a hot seller this year.

Original Aqua Dry & Stretch Aqua Dry:
Put your shirt to work. Your Aqua Dry shirt will actually draw moisture to the fabric's surface and away from the body, keeping you cool and dry. In tests, traditional cotton fabrics took more than twice as long to dry. Aqua Dry fabric breathes easily, washes and dries without shrinkage, fading, or wrinkling. An Aqua Dry shirt also makes a great first layer in cold weather. Just like in hot weather, you'll stay dry. Don't let them see you sweat.

Our Original Aqua Dry fabric is a classic lightweight pique knit. Our Stretch Aqua Dry is a finer, heavier knit with 3% stretch added to enhance comfort and freedom of movement.

The richly textured honeycomb like knit promotes comfort and breath-ability. Our Pique fabric is compacted and laundered to minimize the shrinkage and twisting.
Interlock (38 singles yarn):
Double knit construction creates a fabric that has two plies knit simultaneously to form one thicker and heavier ply. It has natural stretch, a soft hand, and the smoothest surface.
Double Knit Mesh (38 singles yarn):
With natural wicking properties and a sophisticated look you will feel cool in more ways than one. Double knit construction combines a mesh look on the outside and a flat smooth surface against your skin.
Ottoman (38 singles yarn):
With wide horizontal ribs this fabric has the most texture. Double knit construction allows for a flat smooth surface against your skin.
Drop Needle Interlock (38 singles yarn):
A unique rib-like texture with all the benefits of Interlock.
Mercerized (38 singles yarn):
Intense combing processes smoothes and adds gloss to the yarn surface. The result is the softest and best quality cotton fabric available.
